Do you have an iPhone 4? You warranty has expired and your battery can’t
hold a charge? Do you want to know how to change your battery by your
self. Here we’ll show you how to do it. Check it out after the jump.
Step 1: Remove the 2 dock connector screws using the #00 Philips screwdriver or the mini 5 point screwdriver.
Step 2: Slide the back of your iPhone 4 upward to remove it.
Step 3: Undo the #00 screw which holds the battery clip to the logic board. But there is a tiny grounding clip that sits right where you unscrewed your battery from. Do NOT lose this clip. It grounds your Wi-Fi antenna. You will need to make sure it is in place before installing the new battery.
Step 4: Pop the clip holding the battery to the logic board using the plastic pry tool by sticking the end of the pry tool under the clip and pull it up gently until it unfastens from the logic board.
Step 5: Now to remove the battery you could use the the plastic pull tab but we DO NOT Recommend that. You better run your pry tool along the right side of the battery and break the adhesive that way. When the battery is free from the adhesive, you can get out of the phone.
Step 6: Put the Wi-Fi grounding clip in place lined with the #00 screw hole for your battery. It goes under your battery clip.
Step 7: After you lined up your Wi-Fi grounding clip, place the new battery clip where it gets seated on the logic board and snap it down. You will hear a click when it sits in place.
Step 8: Put your new battery in place.
Step 9: Replace the #00 screw that holds the battery and grounding clip in place.
Step 10: Line up the back cover up with the clips and slide it down into place.
Step 11: Put back the 2 dock connector screws in place.
That’s it. You are done.
